This landmark development brought together world-class sport, global branding, and precision engineering, and we were honoured to be selected as the primary steelwork contractor for the full build. The project demanded speed, accuracy, and absolute reliability, and our team rose to the challenge from start to finish.
A Flagship Sporting Venue
The Adidas and Fives Futbol Arena was designed to raise the standard of indoor football facilities in South Africa. With its striking appearance, professional layout, and strong commercial partnerships, the arena instantly became a focal point for local sport and community engagement. For Solans Engineering, it represented an ideal opportunity to demonstrate our capability in delivering structural and architectural steelwork for large-scale commercial projects.
From day one, our team worked closely with designers, architects, and project managers to ensure every steel component would integrate seamlessly into the final structure. Because the arena would host national players, international visitors, press events, and major corporate functions, every detail had to be executed to the highest standard.
Our Role in the Project
Solans Engineering was responsible for a broad and technically demanding scope of work. Each element required careful coordination and precision fabrication, supported by efficient site installation.
Fabrication and Installation of the Grandstand Structure
One of the most prominent features of the arena was the elevated grandstand system, designed to increase capacity and give spectators a clear view of the pitch. We fabricated the complete steel grandstand frame in our workshop, ensuring all beams, supports, and connection points met strict load requirements.
Once transported to site, the full assembly was installed along with corrugated steel sheeting, creating a durable, stable, and professional viewing area. The structure needed to be strong enough to handle high foot traffic while also contributing to the clean, modern visual style of the arena.
Main Entrance and Reception Desk
The entrance area would become the first point of contact for every visitor, so it needed to reflect the high standards of both the venue and the Adidas brand. Solans Engineering designed and manufactured a custom steel entrance and reception structure, combining functional durability with a clean, contemporary aesthetic.
The reception desk itself was built as a fully bespoke unit, fabricated from sheet metal and finished to match the branding and theme of the arena. Strong lines, smooth finishes, and precise detailing helped set the tone for the entire venue.
Custom Display Units
Because Adidas was the primary sponsor, branding played a central role throughout the arena. Solans Engineering fabricated all custom display units for merchandise, promotional items, and marketing material. Each unit was designed to be both robust and visually appealing, ensuring the displays would stand out while handling daily use.
These units were designed from scratch, manufactured in-house, and installed on site as part of our turnkey steelwork package.
Construction of the Upstairs Bar
The upstairs bar became one of the standout features of the arena, providing guests with a social space to enjoy while watching matches or participating in events. Solans Engineering manufactured the full framework and architectural steel elements required to build the bar. We worked closely with the project’s interior design team to ensure the steelwork aligned with the layout, finishes, and lighting plan.
The result was a sleek, durable, and modern bar area that helped elevate the overall visitor experience.
Delivered in Just Two Months
One of the defining achievements of this project was the delivery timeline. The full construction and installation phase was completed in only two months, despite the extensive steel fabrication involved. This required detailed planning, tight workshop scheduling, and rapid on-site coordination.
Our team worked intensively to ensure production kept pace with the build programme, while never compromising on quality or safety. Completing a project of this scale in such a short timeframe was a major point of pride for everyone involved.
